The CHS Purpose
It is the purpose of the Casper Humane Society to find forever homes for homeless animals, to encourage neutering of pets, to prevent and alleviate cruelty to animals, and to provide humane education to the community.
Our Facilities
Our "State of the Art" shelter has two pods with seven extra large indoor-outdoor kennels in each which can accommodate three large dogs or five small dogs in each kennel. The main shelter building has six indoor-outdoor kennels and ten indoor kennels for small to medium dogs. This 10,000 square foot structure has five cat rooms, three quarantine rooms, receiving/grooming room, visiting rooms, offices, kitchen, laundry, and storerooms.

Also, there are five yards for the dogs to play/exercise in each day!
Make CHS Your Pet Project
The Casper Humane Society is not supported by city, state, or national funds (including The Humane Society of the United States). All revenue comes from donations, bequests, memorials, adoption fees, and fundraisers.

Ongoing fund raising include the "Hairball Ball", "Super Garage Sales", "Cans for Critters" an aluminum recycling program, "Margaritas and Mutts", the "Phantom Ball", "Giving Tree" during Christmas time, raffles. Supporters may contribute to a perpetual trust fund which ensures the future of CHS.

Every donation no matter how big or small, MAKES A DIFFERENCE!
Animal Policies
Many of our animals are brought to us by their owners. Although there is no charge for surrendering pets, donations are appreciated as they help cover the cost of immunizations and food until the animals are adopted. We are a no-kill shelter, euthanizing only extremely ill animals.

Felines entering the shelter receive vaccinations for distemper, pneumonitis, and leukemia. Canines receive vaccinations for distemper, parvo virus, and corona virus and rabies. Individual health problems are checked by a veterinarian and appropriate medical care provided.

Adoption fees are nominal and include a free checkup by a local veterinarian. All animals are spayed or neutered before adoption to prevent to an overburdened pet population. An animal adopted before neutering is required to be fixed by the new owner. A refundable deposit is required and sent to the owner upon proof of getting fixed.
