Jimmie needs surgery so he can live a full and pain-free life. After surgery, he will need foster care and then a forever home. Please donate to save this clown of a Bull dog

Second Chance Recipients
(Wish 2000)
RHS's Second Chance Fund
Many of the animals come to the Ramona Humane Society injured or ill as a result of abandonment or cruelty cases. Helping sick/injured animals puts a tremendous strain on shelter resources. Previously, there were no resources to handle these cases and many of these animals would have been euthanized to prevent further suffering. The Ramona Humane Society is committed to saving treatable animals but we cannot do it without the community’s support. Your donations help pay for them to receive quality veterinary care and a second chance. This special fund was set-up as a proactive measure to make sure that resources are available when an animal needs help. Please donate local. Here are some of the great animals your donations have already saved. All found their forever homes.

Please Help Veteran's Dog Go Home
On February 13, 2017, a woman struck a dog with her car when it darted out in the street in Hemet CA. The woman called Ramona Humane Society Animal Control for help. The dog was transported to the Small Animal Care Center for immediate medical treatment. A large laceration on a front leg was surgically repaired and radiographs revealed a dislocated hip. The dog received antibiotics, pain management and remained hospitalized awaiting her owner. On February 17, a man and a woman came to the Ramona Humane Society to look for his dog. The woman was a social worker with the Veterans Affairs in Loma Linda. She was helping the recently discharged patient find his lost dog. The veteran tearfully identified his dog at the hospital. The dog was equally excited to see him. This veteran was hospitalized on February 13th. It is assumed that the dog escaped and sought out her owner as she was hit by the car in the vicinity of the hospital. Sarah, the 2 year old Lab mix needs surgery to repair her hip to walk and live a pain-free life. The heavily discounted medical bills, future surgery and follow-up care will cost $2000. The Ramona Humane Society is committed to the goal that no adoptable or treatable shelter animal should be euthanized if the animal can be returned home or adopted into a suitable home but we cannot do this without your assistance. Please donate immediately to help this U.S. Veteran get his companion home where she is loved and cherished. Thank you for helping. Please help spread the word!

Kitten Burned in Garage Fire Needs Your Help
The female kitty, named Chili, arrived at the Ramona Humane Society on Tuesday. The stray cat is believed to have been burned in a Hemet garage fire earlier this week. According to Dr. John Chang of the Small Animal Care Center, the young cat’s fur and eye lashes were singed and she has severe burns to all four paw pads. This cat is being treated for pain, smoke inhalation and infection. She will need blood work and long term hospitalization. Please donate to help save this gentle kitten who found herself in the wrong place.

"BING" 87261
(Wish 2074)
They say things happen in 3s.
This is third dog with a broken leg brought to the shelter in a little more than a week. None of the dogs were claimed by the owners. I hope we get a break soon... In the past, these dogs would have been put down. Now with our relationship with a full service hospital and your donations we can save them, find a foster home and when recovered, find a permanent home. As with the other two, xrays and 4-8 splint changes is all that is needed for this dog to live a pain-free normal life. Please consider a donation to help "Bing", a two year-old male terrier.

Jackson 107653
(Wish 2265)
Donations needed for pup with 3 broken legs.
Despite his sweet demeanor, the pain showed through Jackson’s soulful eyes. When he arrived at the Ramona Humane Society, this 8 week old Chihuahua mix could not walk and could not even stand. He was bought to the shelter by a Good Samaritan who found him in the gutter along the roadway. The puppy was immediately taken to the Small Animal Care Center and received pain medication, anti-inflammatories, antibiotics and x-rays. The Veterinarian believes Jackson was hit by a car. X-rays revealed he has fractures of 3 different legs and will require immediate surgery. The cost of his medical treatment will exceed $2,000, putting a tremendous strain on shelter resources. Even when he was so injured and in extreme pain from having three of his legs fractured, he gave everybody kisses. Will you please join us in saving his life through Ramona Humane Society’s Shelter Animal Medical Fund (SAM fund)) donation? " Thank you for helping make miracles possible.

KODA
(Wish 2172)
Don't cry Koda
Koda came to the Ramona Humane Society as an orphaned kitten. He was placed in a loving volunteer foster home because he was too small for adoption. When his caregiver reported that one of his eyes was tearing and appeared painful, he was seen by a Veterinarian. The doctor determined he has a condition where his eyelashes grow in an abnormal direction so that they scrape the eye and cause constant irritation. To correct this problem, Koda requires surgery. We have found a Veterinarian to donate the surgery but we need to buy the necessary specialized Cryosurgical Kit. The cost is $375. Please donate so we can help this pet enjoy a pain-free life.

Rubber band causes unnecessary suffering
This young dog came to the Ramona Humane Society with a swollen face and and infected neck wound. She was immediately taken to the Small Animal Care Center. As Dr. Joy Cress cleaned up the wound, she discovered the injury was caused by a very small rubber band (see photo) that someone had placed around the dog's neck weeks ago. The band was surgically removed and the wound repaired. She is on antibiotics and is expected to make a full recovery. Helping sick/injured animals puts a tremendous strain on shelter resources. Previously, there were no resources to handle these cases and many of these animals would have been euthanized to prevent further suffering. The Ramona Humane Society is committed to saving treatable animals but we cannot do it without the community’s support. A plea for Peeper
This happy little Pekenese mix was found abandoned on the side of the road. A Good Samaritan brought him to the Ramona Humane Society. His eye was badly injured and he was immediately taken to the Small Animal Care Center. The Veterinarian determined that the eye could not be saved and needed to be removed. Because eye injuries are very painful, surgery was preformed without delay. He is recovering comfortably and will be looking for a new home soon. Please donate so we can pay for the care of this special dog and save more pets with these types of injuries. Thank you

Tiny Tim needs your help
This sweet little terrier came to us last week not using one of his rear legs. X-rays at the Small Animal Care Center revealed an old and serious fracture. Amputation was considered but the Vet wanted to try placing a pin in the bone and attempt to save the leg. We went ahead and agreed to the surgery before we had the donations necessary to pay for it. Tiny Tim had surgery and is now recovering in a foster home. Please donate so we may continue to save animals with these types of injuries.

Layla has gained 17 pounds in a foster home!
(Wish 2029)
Why is Layla so thin?
Layla came to us very thin. At first we thought she just needed food but it became evident that she needed to be worked-up at a full service hospital. After blood work, it was determined Layla suffers for Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency. Layla does not produce the enzymes needed to digest her food. The food passes through her and she is unable to absorb any nutrition. She is on special food and replacement enzymes and she is slowly gaining weight. Please donate for her on-going care, medicine and prescription food. She is a special dog and a staff favorite.

Help to spay/neuter these cats
(Wish 1743)
Donate to the Community Cat Fund
Feral cats have had little or no contact with humans, and so they are fearful of us and cannot be adopted. They have a home—the outdoors. A shelter is no place for a feral cat. And, there is a simple way you can help them: Trap-Neuter-Return(TNR). This program ends reproduction, stabilizes feral cat populations, and saves cats’ lives. Please donate to the Ramona Humane Society’s Community Cat Fund. All proceeds will go directly to spay/neuter and keeping cats out of the shelter.

Staff favorite, Sadie needs your help
This middle aged kitty came to us a stray. She quickly became a staff favorite with her gentle and affectionate personality. While she was in a temporary foster home, her foster Mom noticed she was not eating as much and her mouth seemed very sensitive. The Veterinarian determined she has several infected teeth that are causing her pain and discomfort. Sadie needs a dental, some extractions and antibiotics and then she will be ready for a new home. Please help her live a long pain-free life.
